Ask about what shipping a car costs, how it works, or whether a company is registered. Try one of these:
What it can and cannot do
It can:
- Quote the published price ranges, with their sources
- Look a company up in the FMCSA register
- Explain how brokers, carriers and insurance work
- Point you at the guide that covers your question
It will not:
- Tell you a company is good, bad or a scam
- Give you a price for your specific shipment
- Book anything or contact a company for you
- Give legal advice about a contract or a claim
For a real price, request a quote. To check a company yourself, use the lookup.
About this assistant
Where do its price figures come from?
The same published industry studies the rest of the site uses, handed to it directly rather than remembered. It quotes ranges, names them as ranges from published studies, and will not produce a single number as the price, because a price is only settled when a carrier accepts your shipment.
How much does it cost to ship a car? Will it tell me whether a company is good?
No, and it is built not to. It can look a company up in the FMCSA register and tell you what is on record — the legal name, whether the registration is active, broker or carrier. Whether a company is any good is a question about its reviews and complaint history, and that is worth reading rather than asking a chat box.
Compare researched companiesIs the conversation saved?
No. It is not written to a database, not written to a file, and not put in a log. It exists in your browser for as long as the tab is open. The trade is that refreshing the page loses the thread, which we would rather do than keep it.
Can it be wrong?
Yes. It is a language model reading our figures, and it can misread a question or summarize something badly. Every figure it quotes is on the cost page with its source, and every licensing answer can be checked yourself in the federal register. If the two disagree, believe the page.
