Frequently asked questions

  • Why are some states more expensive?

Remote and rural states see fewer trucks, so carriers charge more to detour there. Hawaii and Alaska cost the most because shipments include an ocean leg or a very long overland haul.

  • Does shipping to a state cost the same as shipping from it?

Not always. If more people move into a state than out of it, trucks leave emptier, so outbound shipments can be cheaper, and the reverse is also true.

  • Do state rates include insurance?

Licensed carriers must carry insurance, and its cost is built into the price rather than added as a separate fee. Always check the coverage limit and deductible.

  • Are these real prices or estimates?

They're estimates built from quoted, booked and completed shipment prices, shown as averages and typical ranges. A price only becomes a confirmed rate when a carrier accepts your specific shipment.
